Afternoon Tea at The Midland has been a highlight of the Manchester social scene, retaining popularity since the hotel opened in 1903.
As Manchester's only setting dedicated to afternoon tea, The Tea Room at The Midland is one of a kind. Served in opulent surroundings overlooking St Peter's Square, The Tea Room has it's own knowledgeable team to guide you through this quintessentially British pastime.
A LITTLE HISTORY
Since its grand opening, the hotel has had the pleasure of welcoming many a king, queen, president and rock star. Not to mention hosting many special events, including the rooftop wedding of Israel Seiff and Rebecca Marks (the daughter of the founder of Marks & Spencer) in 1910.
On the 1st August 2024, The Tea Room partnered with Pommery Champagne to bring an elevated experience which delivers the finest afternoon tea experience in the city. Manchester was a key export city for Madame Pommery in 1874, and this partnership celebrates her wonderful achievements and 150 years since she created the style 'Brut Champagne'.
WINTER AFTERNOON TEA
Warm up this winter with The Midland Hotel's seasonal afternoon tea menu, created with with notes of chocolate, ginger and vanilla, with traditional sandwich flavours of smoked salmon, honey glazed ham and English cucumber.
Accompanied by a wide selection of complimentary loose-leaf tea, including 3 premium blends bespoke to The Midland, and a refreshing champagne selection, this afternoon tea is renowned as one of the best in Manchester.

VALENTINE'S DAY IN MANCHESTER

New for 2026, our package includes an upgrade to Pommery Rose Champagne, a fresh red rose, a Valentines card for you to take home, and a bespoke sharing heart created by our in-house pastry chefs.
From the 13th to the 15th February, our in-house pastry chefs will also serve a bespoke sharing heart as part of your experience.
