  • Imbibe's Drink List of the Year 2016

Seeking to reward exceptional drinks menus, Imbibe Magazine launched its inaugural Drinks List of the Year competition in May 2016. As the UK’s leading publication for on-trade drinks professionals, the competition received hundreds of entries from across the UK, which were narrowed down to just eight shortlisted venues per category.Deputy Editor of Imbibe, Laura Foster commented: “Overall, the quality of entries was very high, and a lot of thought and effort was clearly put into the vast majority of them. A lot of bar giants fell in the first round purely because of the strength of the rest of the field.”Shortlisted for the ‘Gin List of the Year’ category, Mr Cooper’s Bar was praised for its innovative gin selection and well thought out gin and tonic page in its Bar Menu.Speaking on Mr Cooper’s Bars’ shortlist, Bar Manager Shane Kilgarriff says: “People are a lot more serious now about their gin and tonics. In addition to favourite gin brands they also want control over the brand of tonic and the garnish that comes with it. The list we have assembled is not the largest selection but is, in our opinion, a good representation of everything that is exciting about the category.”The winners in each category and the overall Drinks List of the Year 2016 winner will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in London on Monday 17th October.See the full list of contenders, here.
